Yet Another Basic Fact

The fact that a creature exists doesn't give it any rights. There is no such thing as "basic rights".

I'd say that's wrong. All animals have the basic right to be genetically greedy and do whatever is necessary to get their genes into the next generation. You shouldn't critize a lion for eating a gazelle, you shouldn't criticise the black widow female for eating the black widow males after mating, you shouldn't criticize Rosie Odonnel for breathing ... okay, I lied about that last one. That's life.

Yeah, but that's not a right. That's just the way animals are. Does the sky have a 'right' to be blue?
